Five years ago I entered the brick industry not fully knowing what to expect. In that time I have gotten to work with masons and architects on some of the most stunning buildings in our area, from buildings adorning the skylines of Philadelphia to halls of education where these bricks and blocks will be etched in the minds of our future leaders as they reminisce about simpler times.

Not only am I BIA certified, I’m also a member of the National Association of Women In the Construction Industry where women in the industry not only come together to collaborate but also enrich future women hoping to enter the field. I have worked on BIA award winning projects and I am excited to continue working with great people to help shape the architecture of our area.

My typical day at work would consist of getting a lead or phone call from Architects, Restoration Contractors, General Contractors, NYCH SCA Landmark and Homeowners.

I usually get the call when there is a problem matching the different color or size of a brick that needs to be duplicated, I also negotiate and close the contracts with some of the major Masons and Contractors in New York City.

Coming from Erie, PA to NYC and working with BTSBM on such a huge level in the industry is sometimes crazy to believe I actually get to do this for a career.

Assisting our partnered mason yards on long island while working with architects on creating history in the NYC and Long Island area is such an incredibly humbling and exciting experience.

I have been in the brick industry for 72 years. I started in 1951 working for a brick manufacturer in South Jersey as a yard man, working my way to other positions, i.e., sorting and setting brick, loading trucks by hand, operating a front end loader, dumping clay into a grinding machine. I also operated a fork lift, drilling for clay deposits, helped out in the office and worked on samples during the last five years there. In 1961, I left manufacturing and went into sales with a distributor and worked for that company for sixty years, covering the South Jersey territory, calling on architects and contractors.

I was a member of the Building Contractors of South Jersey for 45 years and served on the Board of Directors for 35 years. I am also a member of the West Jersey Society of Architects. In May 2020, I left the distributorship, took some time off and joined Belden Tri State in October, 2020, and have been working with Belden in the South Jersey territory and helping others in the firm.
